Annie and Michael are sitting at a long desk. Annie is dressed in her costume. Michael in his usual T-shirt and jeans, both look tired. At the other end of the desk are Aurora and Aiden.
Aiden: Guys…I know why we are here, but can we move this along? Rachel is in…
Annie: Shut up. I don’t want to hear it.
Aurora: There’s no need to be…
Michael: ZIP IT.

Michael is glaring at both of them.
Michael: Listen to me, it’s one in the morning. We have three deaths, not to mention what happened to Ryla and Evelyn. These could have been prevented if you had just answered the alarm.
Aiden: You didn’t tell him.
Aurora: Of course not, she wants us to tell him, that way we would have to admit what we did, isn’t that right, Annie?
Annie: No, because I didn’t want it to get around, but as you’ve brought it up….

Annie is turning her head towards him.
Annie: What’s up? I was going to ask you earlier but…that thing with Evelyn happened…
Michael: What did happen to her….
Annie: I…I don’t want to talk about it, I’m trying not to even think about it, but I’ll tell you.
Michael: O……OK….I guess….

Annie: So what’s up? What’s on your mind?
Michael: Besides the X-Gen stuff….Jeffery.
Annie: Jeffery? I thought you were trying to get over him.
Michael: He kissed me tonight.

Annie is now turning to face him. Her eyes full of surprise.
Annie: WHAT?! He kissed you?
Michael: Yeah…it was pretty awesome, but now I have a question. What happens now?

Evelyn is in bed. Her eyes are bloodshot, and she looks much the same as she did before. There is a tray of breakfast food, besides the bed and the newspaper. Tiff: Evelyn? I brought coffe.

There is no response.

Tiff is walking out of the room, she looks visibly upset.

Same as panel , but should have a blur filter applied to the art. There should be a blue light and a red light.
Blue light: She’s dying.
Red light: You’re being dramatic.
Blue light: Don’t you feel it? We’ve been trapped in this husk for five years.
Red Light: Because of your actions, Nzdezra.

Same.
Red: If it “dies” we are to be released. We will finally be free!
Blue light: Only to be returned to the void. To await judgment again. Do you wish to be cast down in to the pit again?

Red light: OK, supposing your right, Nzdezra, what do you propose we do?
Blue light: I don’t know ,Azpael. One of us must assume control of the husk and force it to live, hopefully the instinct to survive will take over.
Red Light: This is only a temporary measure, we cannot keep this going. It was only through our presence in the husk that gave us a semblance of life.

Aurora is on the balcony meditating. Annie is walking out of the window attempting to get on to the balcony, she looks visibly annoyed.
Aurora: If you wish to poison yourself with cigarette smoke, you will have to wait until I am finished. I have a lot of stress and free time as I am suspended, so this may take all morning.
Annie: Fuck you, Aurora, I’m lighting up.

Aurora is turning on her.
Aurora: So that’s how it is, Annie? You won’t respect the powerless person at work, so you’re going to carry it on home? Fuck YOU Annie, I’ve been wanting to really lay into you for a while. And I have been thinking about this for a loooong time….

Annie is blowing smoke in her face.
Annie: I don’t care, I’m pissed by you did, you selfish brat.

Aurora is slapping Annie, breaking her cigarette and knocking her back.

Aurora is slapping her again.

It is the boardroom. Annie is standing up at the end of the table. The only one in attendance are Hector, Michael and Jeffery.
Annie: Guys, you can only see that there are only a few of us today and it may be so for a while, Hector, you don’t have to be here, go home to your wife.
Hector: Rylah is well, Annie. Thank you for the concern, but she is expected to recover for her wounds, her only concern is that of Evelyn’s condition.
Annie: I was just getting to that, Hector. Before, I explain why there are only a few of us, let me give the assignments, Michael and I will patrol tonight, Jeffery on backup, and Hector on standby.

Captain Regal is walking in. He is in costume, he has a blank expression.
Captain Regal: Everyone, I see that you have started this meeting, let me get down to the business, I believe we need to….
Annie: T’sari, Thad, whatever you’re calling yourself, I have already started this meeting.
Captain Regal: Yes, well thank you, but it is time to get serious, thank you for beginning and starting. Where is everyone else?

Michael is standing now.

Captain Regal looks indignant.
Captain Regal: This is how you deal with leadership? As if leading your previous team into prison wasn’t bad enough….

Hector is calling his shadow self, Jeffery is beginning to blur, and Annie is now bringing forth her lightning.
Michael: I think we better call a vote on our current leadership.

Hector is speaking: All those in favor of Annie aka Glitch taking over full leadership say Aye.

Annie is looking at Regal. Regal looks angry.
Annie: And now, I appoint Michael aka Rukus, as co leader of this team. And now T’sari, if you will take your seat….

T’sari is sitting down. The rest of the team is looking at him.
Annie: Thank you, now if I can continue, Regal and Hector on monitor duty. Hector, that’s so you can check on Rylah and Regal, you on reserve. Jeffery is our standby, and Michael and I will take over patrol. Now, as for what happened to Evelyn, Rylah, Aiden and Aurora….All I will say is that negligence on monitor duty put the lives of some of our members in danger.

Annie is speaking, all heads are turned in her direction.
Annie: To respect the privacy of those involved, that is all details I will give. Some of what occurred crosses lines and boundaries. And I think it’s best if some of that is left outside of the team. Rylah will be recovering and as soon as able she will return to the team. Aiden and Aurora are on suspension for 2 weeks at least, until I can further review their actions, and Evelyn….I will need to talk to her before I discuss her situation. Ok, team we have our assignments. Let’s get to them.

Annie is in the elevator with Michael.
Annie: I cannot believe that stupid fuck just walked into a meeting and attempted to take over!
Michael: Annie, look, we all know Regal is an asshole. He was trying to change, but we all knew he was eventually going to go back into asshole mode. Don’t sweat it.

They are exiting the elevator and walking into the lobby.
Michael: OK, so where should we start?
Annie: You pick, I honestly don’t care.
Michael: Calm down, Annie! You are really upset!
Annie: Well, after what happened to Evelyn and then Regal being an ass….

Rachel is at her kitchen table. There are multiple books stacked everywhere. She is reading and has her hair pulled back. She is holding one book and sipping from a glass of tea.
Rachel: …during the process, there are four mages in a circle, one representing one of the four pillars…Aiden? Honey, can you bring me some more tea?

Rachel is looking at the book, in the background Aiden is taking her glass over her shoulder.
Aiden: I got it.
Rachel: Thank you, look, as Annie and Michael have given you the next couple of days off, do you want to go see your parents or just bum around here? I mean you took the time off to spend with me, we might as well use it. I mean, I have to go to the Ax building to help Richard do the upgrade on the security system, what do you think?

Rachel is turning her head, taking off the glasses.
Rachel: Aiden, what’s wrong? You and I haven’t really talked in a long time. Is everything alright?

Aiden is pouring tea.
Aiden: Yeah….I’ve just been a little distracted, I’m ok, though Rache, and yeah, we can go see our parents..wait. We have this thing we have to go to tomorrow night. Didn’t you get the message that Deborah left, we have dinner with the rest of the team, at her place, it’s supposed to be formal.

Rachel is making a face, and taking the tea from Aiden’s hand.
Rachel: Yeah, but I thought we could skip out on it, I mean there is nothing that says we have to eat at the boss’s. Plus, besides you haven’t been back to see your family since we moved here, you’re dad has been asking about you…

Aiden is kissing her on the cheek.

Annie: Yeah, I guess so, but I guess lately everything is getting to me. Plus Regal and Aurora aren’t making things easier. By the way, you aren’t doing too shabby in the leadership department.

Michael is smiling at her.

The Man(Gordon): Wh-who are you, what are you doing in my home?

Evelyn is untying the woman, she doesn’t seem to be paying attention to Gordon.

Michael , Jeffery, Junto and Tremor are looking ahead in horror.

Evelyn is chained to a bed. She is gagged and her eyes are wide with terror.
Page 2
It is an upshot of Evelyn on the bed. We can now see that her hands are bound on each side of the bed. The room she is in is dimly lit. The walls are strewn about with pictures of her everywhere. She has her costume on, but her boots, shoulder pads and gloves are gone. The naked man is standing beside the bed, his hands are covered with blood.
Man: Are you scared? Don’t be. Your friend will be gone soon, after I attend to her. Then we can be alone. I killed that whore a month ago who could take powers away, so I could protect you. I’m very good at that. I will be the strong man you need. Al l you have to do is make me better.

Last issue, Michael met with former teammates Junto and Tremor to give permission to demolish the X-building when he discovered that they have already reformed the team. To add to his stress, his long standing crush, Jeffery, chose that night to discuss their relationship. After avoiding the subject, they discovered that X-Generation had been summoned to Salvation College to assist a potential member who uncovered a plot to manufacture JR4478, a drug that gives normal humans, superpowers, it only needs one activator, parahuman blood. Last issue, Michael met with former teammates Junto and Tremor to give permission to demolish the X-building when he discovered that they have already reformed the team. To add to his stress, his long standing crush, Jeffery, chose that night to discuss their relationship. After avoiding the subject, they discovered that X-Generation had been summoned to Salvation College to assist a potential member who uncovered a plot to manufacture JR4478, a drug that gives normal humans, superpowers, it only needs one activator, parahuman blood. They arrived only to witness the murder of one of the teens due to the irresponsibility of Tremor.
Meanwhile, Evelyn and Orchid are investigating the murder of a political commentator when they discover that the murderer has a dangerous obsession with Evelyn. He has multiple superpowers and has taken the two ladies prisoner.

One of the men is running toward the team, another seems to have separated himself into five different men, and another is taking to the air.

The man is retreating back to the bedroom. Evelyn is still chained to the bed, fully clothed, gag in her mouth. Evelyn’s eyes are puffy and tearstained.

Annie is stomping down the hall of the Ax building. Behind her is Hector(Lasombra). They both look angry and livid.
Annie: We’ll find her Hector, after I deal with Switch and Aurora.
Hector: We better, Annie. She was to be home at 9, she said Evelyn and she were working a new case and then nothing she was not answering her signal device or her phone, and neither was Evelyn.
Annie: Let’s see what we find in the monitor room.

Aiden and Aurora are kissing, his hand in her hair, Aurora has one of her hands on his chest. Annie is first in the room. The computer screens show three blinking lights. Under all alerts are the words: PRIORITY ALARM

Annie is shocking both of them. Hector is now in the room. Aurora and Aiden are both getting up, looking a little frazzled.
Annie: Get up, you both disgust me, there have been multiple priority alarms and this is what I walk in to find? Aurora, you and Aiden, suit up, you’re going to Salvation College to assist Michael and Jeffery. Hector and I are going to Salvation Steelworks to see about Evelyn and Ryla. After you assist, you are to return here and straight here and wait for my arrival. Do you understand?
Aiden: But Rachel is at home….

She is dressed comfortably in a sleeveless turtle neck and white pants.

Trisha: Hi, and welcome to Opposing Forces. I’m Trisha Colston. Our guest this week, is a recent transplant to the city of Salvation, actress, model, and now adventuring vigilante: Evelyn Davis. Let’s get right to it, Evelyn, why do you think that you with your recent background, that people should take your recent career change seriously.
Evelyn: Trisha, hello to you too. Well to answer your question, I think that the perception that we, and by we, I mean we in the entertainment industry, have nothing to add to political dialogue is absurd. That would be to exclude Joe the Carpenter from any time of dialogue. Or even Ted the Trashman. It is almost as if saying that everyone but political pundits should have the excuse to speak.

Evelyn: Really, Trisha, I do find that your fake indignity insulting, as is that rather expensive turtleneck, hideous by the way, wasn’t it you who this very week, stated on your radio show, that if I had spent as much money investing money in the stock market as I did on couture, I could single handedly bail this country out of recession? I believe so.

Evelyn is smiling at Trisha, who is angrily pointing at her.
Trisha: If you think those comments were to help me set up some kind of attack on this show…
Evelyn: O, I don’t think dear, I know. You and that rather annoying fellow with the squeaky voice, also questioned my endorsement of Owens for mayor and then questioned my wearing leather to fight crime in. If you want to know the answers to them both, perk up those elongated ears. One, Owens is the type of liberal, yes, I said liberal, mind that one needs for this city. We have been under the oppressive conservative leadership of Mayor Ryan, which has caused a 27 percent population reduction which has hurt the city economy by a staggering decline of 30 percent in the last 4 years of his term. Not to mention that parahuman crime has risen by 39 percent over the last two years. Two, I can fight crime in black leather AND heels, because I look damn good.
Trisha: There you are! Pandering to those who are caught up in your celebrity! If that is your defense for not having the sense….

Evelyn: Ah, ah! Temper, temper! While we are on the subject of sense, wasn’t it you who in a speech to a room full of men, stated that maybe women’s suffrage was a mistake? You cited female senators, mayors, and other pundits as examples of why most women shouldn’t concern themselves in politics. In a room full of men? The word ‘pander’ means to ‘pimp’, sweetie, and if that doesn’t sound like pimping yourself out…..

Michael is moving towards a table. At the table is a tall black woman who is wearing street clothes, however at her neck are tight bangles. Her wrists also have tight bangles. Next to her, is a scruffy looking white man who is wearing jeans and T-shirt.
Michael: Asabi! Markus! I haven’t seen either of you since the graduation! How are you both?
Panel 3
Asabi is smiling at him, Markus, sipping from a mug.
Asabi: We are well, Michael. I believe that you got the same letter from the trust that we received. We are the last three that are named in the trust so it’s our decision of where to proceed from here.
Markus: It’s all because of you and those Ax f@!kups.
Michael: Look, we didn’t know that the Cabal was using the X-bunker as a hideout, or we would have gotten to them sooner, and don’t you forget, I was held and tortured there for 3 days.
Asabi: Michael, no one is blaming you…
Markus: Speak for yourself.
Asabi: Markus is angry. But, the fact remains, we need to decide on demolishing the Bunker or rebuilding. We have the capital as part of the trust that we can use to rebuild….

Michael is laughing.
Michael: Rebuild? Asabi, there is no X-Generation! We don’t need the bunker anymore, it’s over. The past few years it was just used as safe house for Moto’ and Marla and to house our old equipment and trophies of our cases. There is no need for us to hold on to it. Look, I did some research and the trust will pay for the demolition….

Asabi and Markus are looking at him.

Michael: Wait. Look, you two…No, you can’t be. Are you trying to reform X-Generation? When the group was disbanded we swore we would never subject younger heroes to this again. Don’t you remember what happened to Shimmer, Kid Krazy, Landslide….

Michael is getting up. He has an angry look on his face.
Michael: Ok, that’s enough, Markus. Don’t ever let his name escape your lips. Asabi, it was great seeing you again, but I’m giving my consent to have the building demolished.

Asabi: We are currently using it. We weren’t thinking of reforming X-Generation, it’s already been done. Even Whiz Kid helped with the computer….
Michael: Melvin?! He is 20 for god’s sake! He’s not a kid anymore! You can’t do this! Someone is going to get hurt! Like we did, don’t you remember? Asabi, please, if you have already started, this you need to stop it!
Asabi: What about the next generation of heroes? There is promise there, clay we can mold…
Michael: Yeah, the next generation, huh? What good have we done, since the team disbanded?
Markus: Is that a dig? What the big bad Ax man….

Michael is walking out of the bar.
Michael: Good luck talking when I have silenced your voice. X-Generation is finished, let it stay dead. Good bye Asabi, Markus go to Hell.

It is the Ax boardroom. Michael is looking out the window. His eyes focused on where the X bunker was. Jeffery, in street clothes is looking at Michael.
Jeffery: Uhm, Michael?
Michael: Yeah?
Jeffery: I think that Annie was asking you a question….

Michael is looking up. The Panel should show everyone looking at him.
Annie: Well? Are you OK, with patrol duty tonight?
Michael: Uh yeah sure……
Panel 6
Annie is giving him a strange look. So that means you and Jeffery are patrolling the Blotner, Aurora and Aiden have monitor duty and Regal and Lasombra are in the Walsh district. Any questions anyone?

Michael: Yeah…Look, like I said I don’t know how this is going to affect us, but if we see the kids out, I think it’s best if we shut them down. I mean these are just kids and ….
Aiden: Why? I think it’s kinda cool that they got their own kid’s group going.
Annie: It’s dangerous Aiden. If I could have just stayed home…

Aurora is sitting next to Evelyn.
Aurora: But you didn’t and you are always telling us that was how you learned about survival…

Michael: I know, we’ve looked, I think we need to think of something for her quick. Annie…why did you pair me with Jeffery?
Annie: I didn’t, that was Jeffery.

Michael is frowning at her.
Michael: And you agreed?
Annie: Hey, you were in la la land, I asked if you had a problem with it. And just remember it’s for one night. I don’t know why you just don’t tell him.

Evelyn and Orchid are in a large department store. Evelyn is dressed in a short dress skirt and Orchid is wearing a large sundress with a scarf. They are both holding large shopping bags.
Evelyn: You know, Princess, I’m really glad that you agreed to come shopping with me, you and I didn’t really get off on the right foot, and I would like us to become friends rather than co-workers.
Orchid: You may address me as Orchid. And yes, I would like that as well, besides Hector, this world is very much alien to me. Being born in a microscopic world only to be pulled on this plane has not been easy for me.
Evelyn: Well, honey we all have our baggage-what?

Evelyn is walking towards a television. The news is on. The anchor is an attractive Asian woman. The inset is a car. There are police men taking pictures and it appears to be blood splattered everywhere.
Anchor: ..to repeat our top story, Tricia Colston, political commentator was found dismembered outside the studio of this very station one hour ago, police at this time are investigating …..

Orchid is glancing at Evelyn. Evelyn has a shell shocked look on her face.
Orchid: Evelyn, wasn’t that the woman who interviewed you on her program?
Evelyn: Y-yes it is, I can’t believe someone actually killed the frigid bitch….don’t get me wrong, I’m dreadfully sorry that she is dead and murdered in that way, but….
Orchid: I think I understand. No one should be murdered, but I do agree, I think she was a…’frigid bitch’. Well, do you think we should investigate?

Evelyn has a weird look on her face.
Evelyn: OK, Orchid, now you know if it were anyone else, I know it sounds a little uncouth but….

Michael is now is costume, a T shirt with a logo of a speaker and a pair of black jeans. On his head is a distressed hat with a similar logo. Jeffery is also with him, wearing a modified version of his costume, in red and black. The sun is going down and they are both in an alley. Jeffery is standing, Michael is sitting on a fire escape.
Jeffery: Michael? Are you OK? We’ve been out here for about an hour and you haven’t said much.
Michael: I’m fine, yeah don’t worry about it, just don’t feel like talking.
Jeffery: Hmmmm, Ok fine, look why are we patrolling the X-building? If X-Gen are kids, then wouldn’t they be in bed?
Michael: It’s seven o’clock, not midnight, plus this is the best time for them to be out. I don’t want their to be anymore deaths on that team, so I would rather just see if they pop out for a patrol.

Jeffery is looking at him. Michael is looking back expressionless.
Jeffery: Look, I know you said everything was great between us and all, but is it? I mean, you been acting kinda weird around me for a while and ….
Michael: Leave it alone.

Jeffery is staring at him. Michael is getting up from his seat.

There is a young black woman who is walking from the library. She is holding books in her arms. It is Tamara from the annual story. She looks annoyed. Behind her are two tall blonde girls.
Tamara: Quit following me girls. I’m not going to help you cheat, I’m not going to join your sorority just to be your “token” and I don’t want to hear how you got out of class for wearing something slinky and still passed your midterms.
Christie: O come off of it, Tam! We just want to know who that cute guy was last week who came here to talk to you.
Kassie: Yeah, he was hot! So who was he? Do you have a boyfriend we don’t know about?

Tamara is turned around giving the girls an exasperated look.
Tamara: Look, he was trying to recruit me for….
Kassie: OOOoooo for what? A night of unbridled passion?
Christie: Kas, shut up! So spill it Tam, what was it for?
Tamara:….it was uh…for a club…

Kassie is giving her a strange look, Christie is elbowing her.
Kassie: I wonder if that guy knows….
Christie: Kas, shut up!

Tamara is now looking at them with a serious look on her face.
Christie: It’s nothing, just let it go, so who was that guy?
Tamara: Why do you think that guy would know anything about you guys?

Michael: Would it have changed anything?
Jeffery: W-well, I d-don’t know, I just, well…
Michael: What?

Michael is now looking at him with a questioning look.
Jeffery: What?
Michael: Your voice inflection is off, and I can hear your heartbeat moving faster, you’re lying.
Jeffery: I…it doesn’t matter, I’m with James now…

Jeffery : No buts, I am with him now, I need to work on this relationship.
Michael: Then why did you just lie to me?
Jeffery: I…Michael, just leave it alone. Now it’s my turn to ask you. Please?
Off-Panel Voice: Uh guys? Is everything OK?

Michael is pushing a button on his belt. The belt buckle is a big glowing red “A”.
Michael: Aiden? Yeah, everything is fine, what’s up?
Aiden(through the belt buckle): You left your com link open. Aurora and I heard everything, uh….we are closing this channel.

Michael and Jeffery are looking at each other mortified.

Tamara: Ok, girls, spill it, how did you know that I have powers?
Kass: We-we saw you using them?
Christie: It’s the guys, the rushes from Lambda Alpha Psi. There are six of them, Kass and I were hanging out with some of them, and then we started noticed that they were acting really weird. They were into injecting themselves…
Kass: Yeah! They would do it right in front of us and everything!
Christie: Well, one of the guys is a chemistry major, he said he found some notes for a drug called JR4478, after he recreated it, he found what it does…
Kass: Yeah! It gives people powers!
Christie: KAss! I was getting to that!

Tamara is sitting on the bed.
Christie: Well, we found out that they had been using it for a while, the rushes all have powers! Well, Kass and me were going to report it to the dean, and we told them we were….They caught us and injected us with it!
Kass: Yeah, that’s how I knew what your powers were, I can “see” it sorta, I know who here has powers and who doesn’t.
Christie: I…I freeze stuff. When Kass saw you had powers and so did that guy, we thought…maybe you could help us….

Tamara is looking at them puzzled.
Tamara: Why didn’t you tell me before? I could have tried to help you from those guys. Look, can you point those guys out to me? Maybe we can get some pics of them injecting and we can take those to the dean.
Kass: Yeah! Hey Christie, that sounds like a good idea…
Christie: I-I don’t know…..
Kass: Look, it’s better than dropping out, and I-I’m really scared.

Aurora is sitting in a large room with lights blinking. Aiden is also in the room, but he is in the form of a dog, curled up in a ball on the floor.
Aurora: Once again, for the record, I don’t approve of this.
Aiden: Look, ‘Rora, Mike is my best bud, and I’m just looking out for him. As long as they don’t know the audio is on, it’s cool. I just don’t want him to get hurt. You know what happened to his last relationship.
Aurora: Yes, but this is wrong. We should not be eavesdropping. Let me ask you, Aiden, what would you feel like if we were listening in on you and Rachel?
Aiden: Hasn’t much to listen to lately…and when we do talk it’s all….

Aurora is down on her knees, petting Aiden.

Aiden: Well, She’s been different, more….I don’t know how to describe it, I want to say hormones but you know that’s just an excuse. She has kind of drifted off into her own world now, and ever since her involvement with the team, it’s been hard. We only see each other right before bed and have breakfast together in the morning.

Aiden is beginning to transform into his human form.

Kass: Yeah! You know Kev can’t make more JR4478, unless he has some natural parahuman blood. And since I got my powers, I can track them. Soon the entire Fraternity and Sorority will have powers!
Christie: You never told me what you were planning until right before we left to talk to her. I won’t help you, the only reason why I even came along was because Melanie threatened me….

Tamara is on the ground. She is stirring slightly, there is a blinking light coming from her pocket.

Michael: The Land Scaler? No….they couldn’t possibly…..

There is a large black vehicle that looks like a cross between a jeep and sports car busting out of the side of the building. There is a large red “X” on the side.
Michael : Damn you, Tremor!

Michael is grabbing Jeffery.
Michael: OK, look, I know we have to be on patrol..blah blah blah, but those are just kids in there, we have to stop them from doing something stupid, I don’t want to see them get hurt.
Panel 4
Jeffery is grabbing Michael and running at high speed.
Jeffery: You’re the field leader. Jump into my arms, it will be faster. My mass increases the faster I go, so I can carry you, let’s follow ‘em.
Panel 5
The Land Scraper is going down a busy intersection. Jeffery should be shown in the background, carrying Michael.
Panel 6
Jeffery and Michael are next to the vehicle. Michael is pounding on the tinted side window.
Michael: Asabi, Markus! Pull over!
Jeffery: Michael, they aren’t even paying attention to where they are going….

The vehicle is increasing speed. Jeffery is now running faster to keep up.
Jeffery: I don’t know how much longer I can carry and keep up.
Michael: It’s Ok, you don’t have to…let them worry about their drive. I know where they are going.

Jeffery is running to a street corner.
Jeffrey: How could you possibly know that?
Michael: Remember, sound powers, two of the kids in the back were talking about it. There was kind of abduction at Salvation State. One of the girls that Markus tried to recruit activated some kind of signal device. We need to get there to monitor and to make sure none of them get hurt.

Jeffery is grabbing Michael by the arm. Jeffery is running and Michael is being pulled.
Jeffery: C’mon it’s only a 3 minute run if I stay between Mach 2 and Mach 3.
Michael: What? Wait….AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Rachel is sipping tea and looking at Aiden.

I have known her since I was twelve and she has always been the one person who has listened to me, She always made it seem as if I came first in her life, then when we became a couple, it was us. Now, it’s school, team, baby and then me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy about the baby but…

Aurora is smiling at him.
Aurora: I understand, no need to apologize. Have you talked to her about it?
Aiden: I tried, she thinks I want her to quit school and quit the team, but I don’t. I mean I wasn’t happy about it, but she does well at both. I just want some time for us, we see each other so infrequently that I listen when she is talking to me, but I am so afraid to push all my issues on her. The person who killed that perp used a power set for another murdered ex-con the week before. And it goes back for about 3 months.
Evelyn: And there are no clues?
James: Now that actually crosses the line into interdepartmental information. You ladies are welcome to join in the investigation, but we can’t share any information with you. Evelyn, what about Jeffery, who was he paired with?

Not to mention that parahuman crime has risen by 39 percent over the last two years. Two, I can fight crime in black leather AND heels, because I look damn good.

Michael: Asabi! Markus! I haven’t seen either of you since the graduation! How are you both?

Asabi is smiling at him, Markus, sipping from a mug.
Asabi: We are well, Michael. I believe that you got the same letter from the trust that we received. We are the last three that are named in the trust so it’s our decision of where to proceed from here.
Markus: It’s all because of you and those Ax f@!kups.
Michael: Look, we didn’t know that the Cabal was using the X-bunker as a hideout, or we would have gotten to them sooner, and don’t you forget, I was held and tortured there for 3 days.
Asabi: Michael, no one is blaming you…

Asabi: Markus is angry. But, the fact remains, we need to decide on demolishing the Bunker or rebuilding. We have the capital as part of the trust that we can use to rebuild….

Michael: Rebuild? Asabi, there is no X-Generation! We don’t need the bunker anymore, it’s over. The past few years it was just used as safe house for Moto’ and Marla and to house our old equipment and trophies of our cases. There is no need for us to hold on to it. Orchid is glancing at Evelyn. Evelyn has a shell shocked look on her face.
Orchid: Evelyn, wasn’t that the woman who interviewed you on her program?
Evelyn: Y-yes it is, I can’t believe someone actually killed the frigid bitch….don’t get me wrong, I’m dreadfully sorry that she is dead and murdered in that way, but….
Orchid: I think I understand. No one should be murdered, but I do agree, I think she was a…’frigid bitch’. Well, do you think we should investigate?

Michael: I’m fine, yeah don’t worry about it, just don’t feel like talking.
Jeffery: Hmmmm, Ok fine, look why are we patrolling the X-building? If X-Gen are kids, then wouldn’t they be in bed?
Michael: It’s seven o’clock, not midnight, plus this is the best time for them to be out. I don’t want their to be anymore deaths on that team, so I would rather just see if they pop out for a patrol.

Christie: It’s the guys, the rushes from Lambda Alpha Psi. There are six of them, Kass and I were hanging out with some of them, and then we started noticed that they were acting really weird. They were into injecting themselves…
Kass: Yeah! They would do it right in front of us and everything!
Christie: Well, one of the guys is a chemistry major, he said he found some notes for a drug called JR4478, after he recreated it, he found what it does…
Kass: Yeah! It gives people powers!
Christie: KAss! I was getting to that!

Tamara is sitting on the bed.
Christie: Well, we found out that they had been using it for a while, the rushes all have powers! Well, Kass and me were going to report it to the dean, and we told them we were….They caught us and injected us with it!
Kass: Yeah, that’s how I knew what your powers were, I can “see” it sorta, I know who here has powers and who doesn’t.
Christie: I…I freeze stuff. When Kass saw you had powers and so did that guy, we thought…maybe you could help us….

Tamara is looking at them puzzled.
Tamara: Why didn’t you tell me before? I could have tried to help you from those guys. Look, can you point those guys out to me? Maybe we can get some pics of them injecting and we can take those to the dean.

Aurora is sitting in a large room with lights blinking. Aiden is also in the room, but he is in the form of a dog, curled up in a ball on the floor.

Aiden: Look, ‘Rora, Mike is my best bud, and I’m just looking out for him. As long as they don’t know the audio is on, it’s cool. I just don’t want him to get hurt. You know what happened to his last relationship.
Aurora: Yes, but this is wrong. We should not be eavesdropping. Let me ask you, Aiden, what would you feel like if we were listening in on you and Rachel?
Aiden: Hasn’t much to listen to lately…and when we do talk it’s all….

Aurora is down on her knees, petting Aiden.

She has kind of drifted off into her own world now, and ever since her involvement with the team, it’s been hard. We only see each other right before bed and have breakfast together in the morning.

Kass: Yeah! You know Kev can’t make more JR4478, unless he has some natural parahuman blood. And since I got my powers, I can track them. Soon the entire Fraternity and Sorority will have powers!

Michael: OK, look, I know we have to be on patrol..blah blah blah, but those are just kids in there, we have to stop them from doing something stupid, I don’t want to see them get hurt.

Jeffery is grabbing Michael and running at high speed.

James: According to the initial investigation from the csi team, the body was actually torn apart from the inside. It seemed as if her insides have been cooked from the inside and ….
Orchid: I think we get the picture. Have you run that power set through the offenders database?
James: Yeah, just got the preliminaries back. Only two people match that power set, one is secured in Paradiso and the other was murdered last week. There is something strange. The person who killed that perp used a power set for another murdered ex-con the week before. And it goes back for about 3 months.
Evelyn: And there are no clues?
James: Now that actually crosses the line into interdepartmental information. You ladies are welcome to join in the investigation, but we can’t share any information with you. Evelyn, what about Jeffery, who was he paired with?

Alien-itis
Ok so I hit a rough spot with this major story arc, and I think the reason why is its more action and story that I'm used to dealing with. Luckily, I had Adam co-plot and he came up with some lines and jokes to use, but in writing the second part, I am a little overwhelmed. After this arc though, the annual will bring it all down and then, of course, back to the character driven stories that classified this and the first year.

Panel 1
The panel is dark. There are two costumed thieves outside of a bank. One is wearing purple bell bottoms and is shirtless. He has on a pair of roller skates. The other is a female with a large Afro. She is wearing silver and gold tights, also bell bottoms. She has large gold hoop earrings. The man has one hand going through a building, the female is keeping looking out, she is holding a large sack.
Silver Fox: Hey, hurry, Loop Hole, there may be costumes around this bank.
Loop Hole: Hey, chill, foxy lady! There hasn’t been an Ax in town for at least 2 months! Besides, the League of the Insidious takes care of its own.
Off Panel Voice: I cannot believe that is what you are calling yourselves.
Panel 2
It is a dark alley. Silver Fox is looking down the alley.
Sliver Fox: Whose there?!
Panel 3
There is a match being lit in darkness.

Annie’s face is illuminated, the cigarette hanging from her lips.

Annie: You know, they don’t make cannon fodder like they used to……

Annie is pulling out a black communicator from her pocket
Annie: Regal? All clear, I stopped Loophole and Silver Fox, how did you make out.
Regal: I have felled AirRaid and Photon. This….League is annoying.

Annie is looking down at the communicator.
Annie: You’re telling me. Ruckus?
Michael: All clear in the Blotner area, no activity tonight, it’s very slow and quiet.

Annie is smiling and looking at the communicator.
Annie: Good for you, you said you wanted a quiet night, Vigilance?
Richard: Yeah, yeah, I busted Hardwire and Haywire, hey where hell do these guys pick their names from? They don’t even sound cool.

They are at the Java Cup. Annie is sitting next to Michael. They are both in T-shirts and jeans. Richard is in his wheelchair at the end of the table. There is also a middle aged man with graying temples. He is dressed in a tweed suit. Michael and Annie are drinking coffee, Richard is drinking juice, and the man is drinking a glass of water.
Annie: It’s just weird seeing you dressed like that, T’Sa-Thad. How’s your civilian identity going?Regal: It’s….different, I am not accustomed to it. I am out of practice, but I will admit, learning again to live as one of you is humbling and refreshing. I should never have let myself stray from humanity.
Michael: Well, I can’t really compare the two, but Thad if you need anything….
Richard: Yes, because you’re an such expert at being human.
Panel 2
Annie is glaring at him.
Annie: Richard, I know that you been nice enough to share your time and razor sharp wit with us and I just want you to know that it means so much to me.
Richard: Really?
Annie: Really? No, you’re an ass and you need to shut up. Look, guys, we’ve been doing good, but we can’t keep this up. The number of criminals in this town has grown and we are barely doing enough to contain it. I think we need more members.

Regal is looking at her.
Regal: Annie….we discussed this. The others don’t want to join, and it would be too lengthy to train new recruits. I think we just need to talk strategy.
Michael: I think she’s right. The only reason that we haven’t actually contacted the others is because of how bad things went last time, we need to try and finally end this. Two months is too long.
Richard: I would have to agree with them, Thad. It has been way too long, I have not spoken to anyone else except this group and I have not spoken to my sister in this length of time. I guess she felt as if dealing with our father attempting to kill us was something that didn’t need to include me. Hell, Annie should be the one with the most to fear, she almost killed all of us.

The table is quiet, everyone looks uncomfortable except for Richard who is sipping his drink.

Regal is looking at Richard, his eyes are glowing dimly.
Regal: I think that is just about enough from you.
Michael: It’s OK, I removed his voice. But he does have a point. Annie, are you sure that you want to talk to them, it has been a while.

Annie is smiling at him.
Annie: I think it’s time. It’s been two months and I gave up trying to talk to them, so let’s divide this up. I’ll talk to Aurora and Evelyn.

There is a small dog running in to the kitchen. Rachel seems annoyed.

Rachel: What did I tell you about switching forms when you’re in the new house? Oh my GOD! What are you some kind of idiot? Why do I even try to have nice things when….

Richard: I would have to agree with them, Thad. It has been way too long, I have not spoken to anyone else except this group and I have not spoken to my sister in this length of time. I guess she felt as if dealing with our father attempting to kill us was something that didn’t need to include me. Hell, Annie should be the one with the most to fear, she almost killed all of us.
